Professional Statement
Dr. Megan Marstaeller was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana. She completed her undergraduate studies at Carroll College in Helena, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Philosophy.
She went on to attend the University of Washington School of Medicine through the WWAMI program, completing the first 18 months of her medical education in Bozeman before rotating throughout the WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho). Originally planning to pursue pediatrics, Dr. Marstaeller found that her clinical experiences further strengthened that commitment. She completed her pediatric residency in Boise, Idaho, as part of the inaugural class for that program, gaining valuable experience in both urban and rural care settings. Her training also included longitudinal experiences in rural communities and fostered a strong foundation in advocacy through community-based and legislative initiatives.
Dr. Marstaeller is passionate about caring for children at all stages of development and serving as both a medical resource and advocate for patients and their families. She has a strong interest in behavioral and mental health, exercise, nutrition, and the care of children with medically complex conditions. Her approach to pediatrics is rooted in whole-child care—recognizing that a child’s health is shaped by many factors, including physical health, emotional well-being, family dynamics, environment, education, and access to resources. She is committed to providing compassionate, holistic care that supports children and families throughout every stage of development.
Dr. Marstaeller is excited to return home to Montana and help build pediatric care at Bitterroot Health. She looks forward to developing long-term relationships with patients and families within the community.
Outside of medicine, she and her husband enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle, including running, downhill skiing, hiking, camping, and exploring natural hot springs. They also enjoy cooking and experimenting with healthy, home-cooked meals inspired by friends and colleagues.
She is joined in Montana by her husband, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and exterior contractor, along with their two dogs. After years of visiting the Bitterroot Valley for vacations, they are thrilled to now call Hamilton home.
